{"id":1959,"date":"2019-06-17T18:04:23","date_gmt":"2019-06-17T16:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.portituristicilamaddalena.it\/dintorni\/the-beaches-of-la-maddalena\/"},"modified":"2019-06-25T15:01:23","modified_gmt":"2019-06-25T13:01:23","slug":"the-beaches-of-la-maddalena","status":"publish","type":"places","link":"https:\/\/www.portituristicilamaddalena.it\/en\/places\/the-beaches-of-la-maddalena\/","title":{"rendered":"The Beaches of La Maddalena"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>beaches<\/strong> of the island of La Maddalena are all <strong>easy to reach<\/strong>, both by land and sea.<\/p>\n<h3>La Maddalena panoramic road<\/h3>\n<p>Thanks to the<strong>panoramic road<\/strong>,  which runs parallel to the coasts of <strong>La Maddalena<\/strong>, many bays can comfortably be reached. The first beach we reach driving up north is <strong>Spalmatore beach<\/strong>. Thanks to its<br \/>\ncone-like shape reaching into the open sea, it is <strong>well sheltered from winds<\/strong> and currents. Because of the cleanliness of its waters and of the services it offers, Spalmatore beach was awarded a <strong>Blue Flag<\/strong>. <strong>Spalmatore<\/strong> has an <strong>unmistakable character<\/strong>: It is guarded by <strong>two pink promontories<\/strong> shaped by the wind, its <strong>clear sand<\/strong> bathed by the <strong>blue and transparent water of the sea<\/strong>. Near the beach the water is shallow, and it becomes deeper as you move away from the shore. Continuing along the <strong>panoramic road<\/strong>, just over one kilometre from Spalmatore beach, we arrive at the inlet of <strong>Cala Lunga<\/strong>. This <strong>bay<\/strong> is characterized by the colours of the sea, which is similar to a swimming pool: with a blue, striped <strong>turquoise<\/strong> bottom. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-804 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.portituristicilamaddalena.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/bassa-trinita-natura-la-maddalena.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"295\" height=\"443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.portituristicilamaddalena.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/bassa-trinita-natura-la-maddalena.jpg 888w, https:\/\/www.portituristicilamaddalena.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/bassa-trinita-natura-la-maddalena-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.portituristicilamaddalena.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/bassa-trinita-natura-la-maddalena-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.portituristicilamaddalena.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/bassa-trinita-natura-la-maddalena-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/www.portituristicilamaddalena.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/bassa-trinita-natura-la-maddalena-640x960.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 639px) 98vw, (max-width: 1199px) 64vw, 295px\" \/> In the <strong>northernmost<\/strong> part of La Maddalena we discover <strong>Punta Marginetto<\/strong> and the <strong>Cardellino beach<\/strong>, where the sea has an unparalleled <strong>charm<\/strong>.  <strong>Monti d&#8217;Arena<\/strong> is also characterized by <strong>transparent waters<\/strong>,  but above all by a small <strong>sand mound<\/strong> from which you can tumble down to the beach! Not far from here, the narrow peninsula of <strong>Punta Cannone<\/strong>, stretches out into the sea, with <strong>Lo Strangolato beach<\/strong>, where some <strong>scogli<\/strong> in front of the <strong>sandy beach<\/strong> make the scenery very evocative. This area, known as the <strong>Abbatoggia<\/strong> promontory, is usually chosen by <strong>trekkers<\/strong>. There are numerous <strong>natural paths<\/strong> leading to the cliff. Continuing on the coast towards the south, we arrive at <strong>Bassa Trinit\u00e0<\/strong>, which is considered <strong>the most beautiful beach<\/strong> on the island of La Maddalena, thanks to its very fine <strong>sand dunes<\/strong> and <strong>crystal-clear waters<\/strong>. Among the many beaches on the island of La Maddalena, you can&#8217;t miss the <strong>Testa del Polpo<\/strong> (octopus head) (<em>Capocchia du purpu<\/em> in Sardinian dialect). To reach it, leave the panoramic road and head towards the <strong>Giardinelli island<\/strong>. Every year, on 1st of May, the <em>maddalenini<\/em> celebrate the <strong>feast of the Madonnetta<\/strong> (the little Virgin Mary) here together with tourists.
